About the Miss Bayawan
The Miss Bayawan Beauty Pageant was institutionalized through SB Resolution No. 55 of 1999 and Municipal Ordinance No. 22. It was amended through the SP Resolution No. 665 of 2005 and City Ordinance No. 74. Then it was again amended through SP Resolution Number 709 of 2008 and City Ordinance No. 51 with the current requisites/qualifications and criteria.
1. Requisite Qualifications:
A candidate must be:
1.1 Single between ages of 15 to 25 years old and must be at least 5'2" in height;
1.2 of Filipino parent
1.3 of pleasing personality;
1.4 has a relative or relatives in Bayawan City by consanguinity regardless of the degree of relationship provided said relative/s must have stayed in Bayawan for at least one (1) year;
1.5 willing to represent the City of Bayawan on certain functions requiring her presence.
2. Criteria
2.1 Beauty of Face and Figure 45%
2.2 Communications Skills 45%
2.3 Poise, Charm and Self-confidence 10%
Through the years the pageant produced winners who made it to other higher competitions like Ms. April Joy C. Lamis, crowned Miss Negros Oriental 2000; Ma. Rikka Lorraine P. Llera, crowned Miss Green Encounter Phlippines 2004; Ms. Gretchen Macabante, awarded second runner-up in the Sinulog Queen and Miss Frances Claire Arbon Vintola the reigning Ms. Bayawan City, crowned Miss Teen Philippines Negros Oriental 2009, Buglasan Festival Queen 2009 and Pintaflores Festival Queen 2009.
